MATERIAL
cotton 100%
We use fabric that is a reproduction of mil-spec army herringbone.
This is a faithful reproduction of the herringbone twill for army pants from the 1950s.In order to express the natural unevenness due to the underdeveloped spinning technology of that era, we specially ordered natural uneven yarn with a cotton blend to create a classic. It is made by mixing several types of short slub yarn and long slub yarn to give it a good look.
A traditional non-mercerized finish to express bulge and roughness. The uniformity of the yarn is compromised, resulting in uneven dyeing and unstable shrinkage, but we prioritize the traditional solid texture and dry touch.
*What is mercerization?
The sintering process burns the fuzz of the fabric (thread) and smoothes the surface.
Next, a desizing process removes glue, wax, etc. that may have adhered during sizing.
The cotton fibers are then treated with caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) while applying tension through the mercerization process, which causes the cross-sections of the cotton fibers to swell and become rounded.
This creates a silky shine, eliminates natural twist, improves wash shrinkage and increases fiber strength. It also has the advantage of improving the penetration of dyes and chemicals.
